Transportation Delivery Plan wins Project of the Year
IBI Group’s Pan Am / Parapan Am Games Transportation Delivery Plan was named Toronto Project of the Year by the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) for demonstrating excellence and innovation in the field of Transportation.
Retained by the Ministry of Transportation Ontario, IBI Group’s Transportation Delivery Plan detailed how 44 agencies from across the Greater Golden Horseshoe came together to deliver transportation for the Games – the Province, multiple municipalities, transit agencies and police services all collaborated to develop a plan that met the unique needs of an event of this scale (in one of the busiest areas in North America).
This plan is the output of one the largest coordinated transportation planning initiatives ever undertaken in the region.
The successful relationships, projects and plans that IBI Group established for the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games will continue to benefit the region for years to come. A number of novel concepts were tested that could be adopted in the region, including a one-call cross-boundary specialized transit trip booking service, real-time travel time information along major highways, and a mobile traveler information system.
